With this service, a consumer's electronic check is authorized for payment and debited from the consumer's checking account. Authorizations are made by the NCN database prior to acceptance for clearing and the Automated Clearing House (ACH) system provides clearing of transactions. In addition, returned check items are automatically reinitiated or collected on the merchant's behalf.
